My images have appeared in a few publications over the years. Most recently I’ve written articles featuring my Nightscape photography of the California North Coast for print in the North Coast Journal newspaper and Humboldt Insider magazine.
On the internet one can find my weekly nighttime photo stories “Night Light of the North Coast” (or “North Coast Night Light,” depending) at the web sites of the North Coast Journal (some also end up in the print edition), Redheaded Blackbelt, and Anderson Valley Advertiser .

I wrote the cover story and of course made the images for “Under the Milky Way: Stargazing on the North Coast” for Humboldt Insider’s Spring/Summer 2019 issue (link to article).
Humboldt Insider quarterly travel magazine is the beautiful, all-glossy hot-ticket source for local travel tips, happenings, insights and maps behind the Redwood Curtain on California’s North Coast.

I had the great honor and pleasure of writing the cover story — and of course shooting the photos — for the first issue of this premier North Coast publication’s 30th year. Read the article here: “North Coast Night Lights:
The skies of Humboldt County“

I picked up a few copies for myself, of course…
“…wanna see my smiling face/On the cover of the Rolling Stone…” (lyrics from Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show).

This cover isn’t mine. I wrote a stargazing article for this print issue titled “Beach Bonfire, Meteors and the Milky Way” (link to online version).

In my own story in this issue, called “The Night the Night Light Went Out” (link to online version) I share images from my tripping around Arcata that night with my son.

For those owners of iPad and parents with kids, I’ve written a children’s story for iPad called Luna Raccoon , available on the Apple Book Store. Narrated by accomplished Narrator and Actor Ray Porter (his IMDB link), and illustrated by Christiane Gozashti.
