AI-generated landscape surrounds a warped photograph I shot of the Carson Mansion of Eureka, Humboldt County, California. Made by David Wilson as a sketch to explore how Photography and this new “synthography” can coexist. July, 2023. Prior to adding AI-generated elements, I had manually, using Photoshop’s traditional tools (not AI), added fake “snow” on the mansion, warped it, and put a glow into its darkened windows before applying AI image generation for the building’s landscape and sky. The moon was added manually from another photo I had taken of it.
